About Research Tutoring
A research tutoring session typically includes working on various stages and elements of a project, such as:
-
Locate sources: Using academic databases (often provided by university libraries) for scholarly articles and journals. Exploring library catalogs for books, government documents, and other physical or digital materials. Using general search engines to find public information, being cautious with evaluation.
-
Work on citation format: Ensuring proper use of style guides (like APA, MLA, Chicago) for in-text citations and bibliographies, and helping students understand plagiarism.
-
Design poster: Assisting students with the structure, content, and visual layout of academic posters for conferences or presentations.
-
Practice presentation: Providing a safe space for students to rehearse their research presentations, offering feedback on clarity, delivery, and timing.
